Pavilion near parking lot is new with nice view. Parking lot is at 975 elevation and trail is easy to walk. It doesn’t take long to see many nice boulders. After about a half mile hike you will run into the crest of the mountain overlooking Catfish Lake. Park road loops around the lake and there are trails that lead down the mountain looking northwest. Boulders and vistas are impressive.

There is only a gate, no staff. So if you're a veteran who gets free entry to AL state parks, not sure if that is still an option. One may take the longleaf trail or the fire road to reach catfish lake.

Great bike trail going up or can take the road that’s very wide and easy. Uphill at first ans then a nice circle around the catfish lake. About 2 miles in all.

So far this is a really neat place to explore at omsp. Not too many trails built yet but it’s a 7 mile double track road with beautiful scenery. The opposite end is off of hwy 11 by the railroad tracks and the corner gas station. There’s a few steep sections but it’s still pretty good.
