Adventure and Reward at Eska Falls Trail in Sutton-Alpine

Eska Falls offers an exhilarating hiking experience for outdoor enthusiasts prepared for a rugged journey in Sutton-Alpine. This trail is known for its challenging terrain, including rocky ascents and mud pits, making it a thrilling destination for those with off-roading vehicles or a strong hiking spirit.

While the hike to the falls is demanding and can take all day, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking waterfall views surrounded by shaded wooded areas that provide relief on warmer days. The trail requires careful navigation, especially due to potential ATV traffic toward the end, but the natural beauty and sense of adventure make this a highly recommended destination. For those seeking a remote hiking area with spectacular sights, Eska Falls is a standout choice.

Mainly commenting on the ATV part of this trail. We did not do the hiking side. Hiking would likely be an all day excursion. Access to the official trailhead requires a vehicle with off roading capability, otherwise you have to park down at the end of the road and hike quite a ways. We used an app that shows the trail on gps so we could make sure we were staying on route because there are lots of other atv trails that have been made up there and there are no markers to tell you the way. There’s a couple big mud pits and there’s lots of rocky ascents so just be prepared for that. But if you’re equipped with a good atv and have experience with those terrains it’s a great ride and the falls are amazing- totally worth it- we had a great time.

Great hike! It's wooded farther up than I expected, but the shade is nice on a hotter summer day (like any of early July '19). Once you crest the Ridgeline at 3 miles (from the trailhead, not end of pavement), it's a nice open-country ramble to the falls. You'll sweat, but it's well worth it. Watch out for ATV traffic over the last mile and a half to the falls.

This is an amazing hike. Come prepared and show up early. If your vehicle can't handle the road up to the trail, your walk distance will be increased significantly

Great ride. Not for beginners. Camping on the lake great. Only draw back is gun fire never stops, ever.
