a month agoLove hiking this area early in the morning. There's enough varied terrain to make it as challenging or laid-back as you want. Great views as you wander up and around the mountains on the gravel trail. Just when I think I'm doing good on a "push it" morning hiking, some skinny-body flys past me leaving me in their dust. Ah we can't all be thin with beautiful bodies, but we all can en joy this nature area and get in some good exercise along the way.

a month agoPhoenix Mountain Preserve is a great close to the city hiking spot with lots of trail options including Piestewa Peak and it is easy to access with plenty of parking. The hike I did was about an hour with moderate rocky terrain and some decent valley views along the way making it a solid but not mind blowing outdoor experience.
