Located on the University of Kentucky campus, The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky is a stunning 100-acre arboretum that offers a peaceful retreat in Lexington. This free-to-enter public garden features the popular Walk Across Kentucky, a paved two-mile loop that highlights the diverse flora of Kentucky’s seven major physiographic regions. The accessible trails are ideal for visitors of all ages and abilities, including families with strollers and wheelchairs. Beyond the main path, the Arboretum boasts specialized gardens and serene woodland areas, including the rare Inner Bluegrass woodland. The Kentucky Children’s Garden provides interactive learning fun for kids, though it has a small admission fee. Visitors often praise the Arboretum as a perfect spot to reconnect with nature, relieve stress, and enjoy beautiful landscapes. It’s recommended to check for closures during UK football home games to plan your visit accordingly.

in the last weektook two of the grand daughters here the had so much fun. They watered plants, dug dirt to fill wheel barrows played on a boat explored an old log cabin set up with fire pit so they could pretend to be pioneers and at only $4 a person it is well worth it to watch them explore and learn about plants and flowers
