a week agoPrincess Falls is such a beautiful spot tucked away in the Big South Fork area of McCreary County. I recently hiked out with a waterfall and wildflower group, led by Skench Outdoors, and it was one of those trails that feels peaceful the entire way. The hike is about 1.4 miles from the parking area (2.8 miles round trip) and follows an out-and-back route. It’s mostly easy and manageable, especially in dry conditions, but I’d still recommend wearing good hiking shoes since some areas could be slippery when wet. The falls are just past the wooden bridge—don’t cross it—and are well worth the walk. Along the way, we saw early wildflowers starting to bloom, which made the experience even more special. One thing to keep in mind is that parking is limited, so arriving earlier in the day is a good idea. Overall, a great hike if you’re looking for something scenic, peaceful, and not overly difficult. Definitely worth the visit.
