in the last weekA friendly reminder: The trailhead sign for the Apple Orchard Falls trail states the trail blaze is white. This is incorrect. White is the blaze for the AT itself, which you will cross about .3 miles into the hike. The trail blaze for the falls trail is dark blue.

in the last weekGood hike, well maintained trail. Unfortunately, because it has been such a dry summer, the falls were pretty dry. Still, it was nice to get out into the woods.

2 weeks agoThis is a fun and beautiful hike for families (our youngest is 7). We were able to hike down and back in under two hours. Our ability level as hikers: we hike in the Peaks of Otter a couple of times per year, not avid hikers exactly. I would rate the difficulty level greater than Fallingwater Cascades but less than Sharp Top. It seemed slightly steeper and more challenging than Cascades. On Mother’s Day there were a few early blossoms on the Rhododendron’s. In a week or so I expect they will be in full bloom.
