2 months agoKelly did a great job on my headliner. Gave excellent advice on material and substrate. Update - after Kelly’s great work on the 360 headliner, I entrusted him with the reupholstering of my beloved 94 Toyota pickup. He made some material and pattern change suggestions and his attention to detail with seam alignment and straightness really shows. Excellent work again!

8 months agoI recently hired Kelly’s Upholstery for some interior vehicle work, and while the actual craftsmanship -- specifically repair of warping door panels -- was performed competently, and I had positive experiences in the past with small repairs, I cannot recommend this business based on my overall experience. My initial concern was the labor pricing, which I found to be significantly above industry standards. He wanted $750 labor charge to install just a couple sections of vinyl seat material. For context full custom leather seat replacements (parts AND labor) are widely available for $600 per seat. The pricing here is simply not in line with the scope of work performed. More importantly however, I encountered a serious issue with the material installed on the seat. It was intensely off-gassing immediately and caused both health issues and damage to my clothing. After investigating, the shop acknowledged that the material was likely defective or too old. Despite this admission, they refused to issue a refund, arguing that the problem wasn’t with the craftsmanship or done intentionally. However, this reasoning sidesteps the key issue: regardless of intent or technical execution, the installed material was still faulty and caused tangible harm. In professional service, unintentional damage is still damage, and the failure to take responsibility here is both disappointing and unacceptable. In summary, while the mechanical work itself was solid, the pricing is excessive, and the unwillingness to stand behind materials -- even when acknowledged to be defective -- reflects poorly on the business. I would advise others to proceed with caution: request all quotes IN WRITING before any work is performed, request to see proof of the shop's liability insurance, and DO NOT pay with CASH.
