in the last weekWe were genuinely excited to dine here after seeing Jerry Seinfeld at the Hanover Theatre. With all the buzz surrounding Armsby Abbey, we expected an elevated, memorable meal. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. To be fair, the front of the house absolutely rocked it—friendly, attentive, and professional. The service was the highlight of the evening. However, the back of the house fell noticeably short. On a Saturday night, the kitchen had already run out of chicken sandwiches and short ribs by 7:15 pm. That’s kitchen management 101—especially for a restaurant of this reputation. We also ordered two boards, and the inconsistency was hard to ignore. One arrived with mini breads that weren’t toasted at all, while the other came out with mini breads that were completely burnt. That lack of quality control summed up the evening. It went downhill from there. We ordered the pâté—only to find out that was 86’d as well. At that point, it felt like slim pickings. The salad we did receive was overwhelmed with cumin, to the point where it dominated the entire dish. I wasn’t even compelled to take photos of the food, which says a lot. Overall, while the service was excellent, the food execution and menu availability were disappointing. We left feeling underwhelmed and surprised, given the restaurant’s reputation. Hopefully, this was an off night—but based on this experience, Armsby Abbey didn’t deliver the exciting food we were expecting.
