For those seeking a rewarding outdoor adventure in Divide, Colorado, the Crags Trail Head provides a picturesque hiking experience marked by diverse terrain and stunning views. This hiking area features a five-mile round trip trail with steep sections at the start and finish, balanced by a gradual incline along the middle portion, making it both accessible and invigorating.
Hikers appreciate the iconic Colorado scenery, including prairie landscapes and nearby streams. The trail culminates in panoramic summit views that make the effort worthwhile. While parking can be challenging due to the narrow, rough access road and trail popularity on weekends, the natural beauty and peaceful surroundings more than compensate.
After a day on the trail, many visitors recommend enjoying a meal at local spots like Russ’s in Divide to complete the outdoor excursion. The Crags Trail Head remains a beloved destination for those looking to immerse themselves in authentic Colorado wilderness and hiking culture.

a week agoOne of my favorite day hikes in Colorado! There is so much to see! There is the possibility of large wildlife, so be aware.

a week agoNice trail well defined until last bit to summit of the Crags. Road to trail head was closed (April 2026) so parking was about a mile down the road.

3 months agoThe hike to the Crags in mid-January was about 4 miles one way from the parking area outside the Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp by the gate to closed road #383. Its an easier and beautiful hike with a decent amount of snow!
