a month agoWe really enjoyed doing part of this hike. It wasn't too difficult or steep and you can go as long as you want out and back if you don't want to hike all the way out to stack rocks. Some areas were a little slick with ice/mud but it was in general a good trail for winter. We passed a few others out on the trail. There are good views of the mountains in several locations. We parked at the pull off before you get to the official trailhead since the gate was closed to it. It puts you out further along the trail which is nice. There are cool rock outcroppings as well.

4 months agoThis trail head is getting up in elevation as we are in the pine trees and the smell of the trees and the trees that hey have to cut down smells so very wonderful. You have to watch your feet walking here as it would be easy to trip and bang yourself up: it’s beautiful either way an awesome view of Boise here and the valley. Again there is little here for young children to do here so just come and be one with nature.

6 months agoSolid trail, but lots of tree coverage. If thats what youre looking for, great! I was looking for views of the city, so I didnt spend much time here. Of you go on a sunday right before sunrise, you're absolutely the only person on the trail and its super peaceful. No cars or people.
