Kensington Place Redwood City

My sister has Alzheimer's and she has been living at Kensington Place for about 7 months now. Our family couldn't have asked for a better home for her. The caregivers are very caring, patient and loving toward my sister. She is always busy with activities that the staff plan for each day, and she only spends time in her room to sleep. She is very happy there, and the other residents seem equally engaged and happy. The managers are also very friendly and regularly visit with the residents. The entire staff make the residents feel special. The food is good, and they really go all out for holidays. Tommie, the Director of Food Services, does a good job of balancing the dietary needs of the residents while regularly changing the menu and keeping it interesting for them. He's also just as friendly and thoughtful as the rest of the staff.

Over the years, we have had a family friend, then my mother and now my father placed at Kensington. Every time we have been impressed by the level of training, the friendliness and effectiveness of the staff and their organization. We also enjoy the genuinely caring nature and the very positive spirit of the place.

 But, you forget the little things that they do, when you do not have a family member there for a while. We recently moved my aged father to Kensington Place, and were facing a tight window for his move. We had ordered many pieces of furniture that had to be assembled, and I came one evening to verify that it has all been delivered to his apartment and to start a weekend’s worth of assembly. To my surprise, not only was it in the room, it was already assembled. Additionally, one piece had been damaged in shipping, and they had actually repaired it. He has vision issues, so the room had been painted a lighter than normal color, a lighter carpet option had been installed, and excellent new room lighting had been set up for him. As a result, the move went smoothly, and he is already integrated into the daily flow and enjoying the hourly activities and the dining. If you have a family member who needs memory care, we highly recommend Kensington Place.

Visited a family member who is a resident this week. Extremely impressed by facility and especially by the staff, a community of caring individuals. A shoutout to chef Tommie who is outstanding.
