This trail is one of my favorites for birdwatching. The trails at this entrance are much flatter than the ones at the nature center and the ballpark which allows you to focus on looking into the trees rather than where you step (although it's still important to be aware of your surroundings!) This is also a great option for those who may have mobility issues to still enjoy a beautiful forest. The main downside of this entrance is the noise coming from a nearby shooting range and car junkyard. Once you get further from the entrance though, it becomes less noticable.

I love the Lizard Loop trail that can be accessed from this trailhead. Easy hike and we can take our dog too. There are two small gravel lots for parking and we’ve not had issues finding a space though I’m sure it happens. No bathrooms or water access here though there is a small trash can and trail map right inside the gate.
