2 months agoI’ve been a patient of Dr. Courtney Hain for several years, and I’ve consistently had a great experience. The quality of care is excellent, appointments are efficient, and Dr. Hain always takes the time to explain treatment options and answer questions. Their new office at 450 Sutter is beautiful. It’s modern, comfortable, and has incredible views of the city. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and professional, which makes every visit pleasant from start to finish. This is more of a boutique dental practice, and they aren’t in network with most insurance plans, so it’s important to understand that going in. That said, I’ve found the quality of care, attention to detail, and overall patient experience to be well worth it. If you’re looking for a dentist who provides consistently excellent service in a beautiful setting, I highly recommend Dr. Hain and her team.

a year agoExtremely Disappointing Experience Since Dr. Hain Took Over Dr. Parett’s practice at 490 Post Street in SF: I’ve been a loyal patient at this dental office for over 25 years under Dr. Parett, who was a truly exceptional dentist—caring, responsive, and someone I trusted completely. Unfortunately, ever since Dr. Hain took over his practice at 490 Post St., things have gone seriously downhill. Last April, I broke a front tooth. When this happened two years earlier, Dr. Parett took care of me the following day. This time, I was told I had to wait over a week to be seen. To make matters worse, the office submitted my insurance claim one day late, which meant I lost coverage for the procedure and was hit with a $500 bill. When I raised the issue, I was told it was my responsibility to verify coverage—not theirs. I disputed the charge and never heard back. The lack of accountability was stunning. The office manager, was especially unprofessional. She was not only rude and dismissive, but even blamed me for mistakes that were clearly on their end. Things reached a breaking point this week when I arrived for a scheduled cleaning and was flat-out denied service. The office manager actually yelled at me in the office and said they didn’t need “clients like me.” It was completely uncalled for and frankly, shocking. Dr. Hain did apologize afterward, saying she wasn’t aware of what had happened—but by then, the damage was done. The warmth and professionalism that defined Dr. Parett’s practice are long gone. To add to the disappointment, the hygienist I did see previously was cold, rushed, and lacked any bedside manner. Under Dr. Parett, there were multiple hygienists who were not only skilled but friendly and welcoming—sadly, that’s no longer the case. A friend I had referred to this office years ago actually had a similar experience with the same office manager and ended up switching dentists. Based on his recommendation, I booked an appointment with his new dentist. To my surprise, their staff had already pulled my records and X-rays before my visit and carefully reviewed my insurance benefits—turns out they’re in-network, and I’ll be paying a fraction of what I was charged under Dr. Hain’s office. I wish things had worked out differently, but I can no longer recommend this practice. Proceed with caution.

a year agoDr. Hain is fabulous, listens to your dental concerns and is wonderful to work with, however, dealing with the front desk staff is sub par. I’ve never had such poor communication with different information coming from different front desk staff. I went in for a last minute appointment to get a consultation and of course I assumed I needed to pay. The person at the desk made it seem like I didn’t have to pay which I found confusing, then after the fact, I see a bill. Jamie is particularly hard to deal with. It’s a shame because I think Dr. is wonderful, but dealing with the office staff has been so challenging that I’d rather take my business elsewhere.
