The Live Hotel

A very decent hotel. We had been staying at another hotel that we had to cancel because upon arrival we found it dirty, noisy, and smelling strongly of marijuana. We made a reservation and in less than 30 minutes we were settled in our room. Luckily, this hotel seemed very clean and quiet upon arrival. The rooms are somewhat small, the beds aren't king-size, but they have air conditioning, a refrigerator, and a microwave. It was perfectly quiet and easy to sleep in. The hotel is old but well-maintained. The night watchman was very friendly, even though check-in was done through a machine (I wonder if the person who checked us in was AI-generated). It's well-located near the subway; however, it's not a great neighborhood: there are many homeless people around, the streets are very dirty, and there aren't many options for eating near the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel with my two cats, but before traveling I called the hotel and spoke with the manager, Vanessa. She told me that the charge for the two cats is $35 USD for the entire stay. However, when I checked my credit card statement, $70 USD had been deducted. I called to request a refund, but they haven't issued it. They claim they processed it, but the bank rejected it (this is the first time I've ever seen a bank reject a refund). I asked them to send me confirmation of the rejection by email, but they haven't sent that either. Basically, you hand over your credit card, and the hotel deducts whatever they feel like and then washes their hands of it.

Hello everyone, in my opinion, the Live Hotel deserves better ratings… We are a French couple in our fifties who have been coming to LA every year for over fifteen years and we find this hotel perfectly acceptable in every respect. This year we are staying there for a week, then taking a week off, and returning for the last week of our vacation… which is clear proof that we approve of this establishment! In fact, this is our third year staying at the Live Hotel. For us, the hotel is very well located, close to downtown, a few hundred meters from a freeway entrance, and near a supermarket with low prices for snacks. Yes, so if you want to go out in the French style in the neighborhood in the evening, there aren't any restaurants or bars nearby. The neighborhood isn't any more dangerous than any other, contrary to what I've read. The hotel has good Wi-Fi, the bedding features firm, high-quality mattresses (no soft, worn-out ones), and there's also a secure parking lot with an attendant. All the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay are provided. For those who, like us, use a cooler, the ice maker is very efficient. You can also wash and dry your clothes; the two machines are clean and effective. The pool and two very peaceful patios are perfect for relaxing. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any request. If the receptionist isn't there, you can speak with a hostess directly via video call. The rooms are clean, and the housekeeping staff are friendly and helpful, cleaning the rooms thoroughly. The rooms are very functional and in good condition, with a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave. If your goal isn't to wander around the hotel area but to stay overnight and explore Los Angeles by car during the day, this is the hotel for you. Unbeatable value for money, and we've stayed in a lot of hotels in LA over the past 15 years! At the Live Hotel, you won't have any unpleasant surprises. While parking is indeed not free, even with the parking fee, the price is still lower than at a comparable hotel! Enjoy your trip! 🇺🇸

It meets the necessary requirements; I have fond memories of the hotel.

Rooms are clean, staff are friendly but location is not good. This is not good area so be very careful when you are leaving hotel especially in the night. Don’t walk unless you have to. We stayed only one night and then we switched to better location.
