a week agoA hidden treat indeed. Having just helped move my daughter to Alaska, i was looking for a place to get some king crab. Its unfortunately not in season, but that didnt stop us from trying it out. Isani was our server and an absolute delight. Personable, cute friendly jokes, honesty about meal selections...ahe was awesome. We started of with the cheese bites. She said it was a popular choice and I see why. Varying flavors of cheeses, perfectly fried and melted, and the bang bang sauce was delicious. My daughter had the wild Salmon and I had the bacon wrapped scallops. Both were delicious. The hollandaise sauce was mild and not overpowering. The scallops were perfectly cooked, the bacon not overly done, and.my daughters salmon was blackened and very tasty. Much different than Atlantic Salmon and you can definitely tell the difference. And the carrot cake - GOOD LAWD! Probably the best I've ever had and its one of my favorite desserts. Beaming with flavor, not too overly rich, I loved the addition of pineapple in it, cream cheese icing was spot on. Very nice place nestled into a Ramada. You need to park down in the garage and take the lobby stairs up. Excellent food, cozy atmosphere, clear view of Juneau and the water and mountains. Definitely giving it my two HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended review. It would've gotten three but crab legs are listed on the menu and they'll need to include the season timing as I did look it up on their website. We do.that for stone crab season in Florida. But still a treat nonetheless.

a month agoAlways an excellent place to eat, the service is fantastic, and the view is great any time of year - I even enjoy it during cruise season. The food is why you go, the atmosphere is why you stay a while.

2 months agoLocated inside the Ramada Inn, TK Maguire’s fits squarely into the traditional American diner category, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Unlike many modern diners that run an all-day menu, they keep to set time periods for each service, so plan your visit accordingly. The menu offers plenty of variety, making it easy for most diners to find something that fits the mood. I opted for the halibut fish and chips, subbing chowder in place of fries. Portions are definitely generous, and the halibut itself tasted fresh, which was a positive. Where things slipped was in the execution. The breading on the fish came out doughy and heavy rather than crisp and light. Unfortunately, the chowder I ordered never made it to the table, which was a miss that took some shine off the experience. Service was friendly in tone but inconsistent in follow-through. Not bad, but not particularly polished either. Bottom line: A convenient, classic hotel diner with big portions and broad appeal, but execution can be hit or miss. Worth a try if you are nearby, though I would personally steer away from the fish and chips if what I got was the norm.

4 months agoNever had a bad experience here whether it was tourist season or winter. Great options for breakfast and brunch foods, and a good dinner at decent pricing compared to other places downtown. The staff has always been pleasant and not overbearing, even if it’s a slow morning. Brunch mimosas are generous for the price! It can get pretty busy at times (usually dinner), but the atmosphere is very sports bar-like and fun.
