Located just a short drive from downtown, the Anchorage Overlook Trail offers a gently paved and accessible hiking area ideal for all ages. In Anchorage, this trail is celebrated for its panoramic vistas of the city and surrounding mountains, including a clear view of Denali on sunny days.
The trail is under half a mile, making it perfect for families and anyone seeking a quick outdoor escape. At the summit, a giant metal compass helps visitors identify landmarks, enhancing the experience. Evening visits offer a chance to witness the Northern Lights in a dark, peaceful setting. Despite some recent vandalism, this trail remains a charming destination for tourists and locals wanting an easy hike with rewarding sights.

2 years agoA beautiful little trail that's super easy, paved and everything, and gives a great overlook of the city. There's a giant metal compass at the top that points to different mountains and on a clear day you can even see Denali. Unfortunately there was some vandalism up there in the last couple days, though I would still go especially if you're a tourist looking for an easy hike or just want a pretty view. The trail is only about half a mile long so just about anyone can do it, even small kids.

5 months agoLocated about 20-25 minutes from downtown Anchorage, it's a perfect spot to get a panoramic view of the city. The area is also dark enough to visit at night, providing an excellent opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

1 year agoEasy short trail from the parking lot with a great view! $5 for parking. You can also do the flattop trail and blueberry knoll trail from the same parking lot, but it is steep in some places and we did not see any blueberries.
