a year agoSoon after entering Crawford Notch SP heading north, the sign for Arethusa Falls and Frankenstein Cliffs Tr will quickly appear on the left. There is a large lower parking area as soon as you turn in and a much closer one up the hill. Parking fees are required with a drop box for cash. A kiosk provides a map of the two popular trails. We were there mid-April, and the ground and trail were still snow-covered though the temps were in the 70s. The hike to Arethusa Falls was fun and beautiful. It's a steady moderately difficult climb with some undulations, then descends to the falls. It was hard to picture the falls being 150 feet tall until a couple ventured closer to it. Quite wonderous. The falls must be an awesome sight during warmer weather.
