Here's one of many roadside viewpoints with trails through the forest. There's a view of Turnagain Arm with restrooms and a large parking lot. While it seemed to go into the forest and up the hillside, we didn't hike the trail.

This trail had a variety of mushrooms to see during August. The most variety i have seen on any trails I took this summer. They also had white berries (do not eat!!) The water is pretty clear and I like spotting waterfalls in the wild. It's right off the highway. We parked at the top and walked down. This trail didn't have a no dog sign that we could see.

A great place with a great view. McHugh is versatile with hiking options for either a quick hike, or a longer one that connects to other trails, like Rainbow Trailhead.

Such a beautiful stop on our visit to Anchorange. Although we weren't in the mood to hike a distance, the spot was beautiful, there was a wonderful picnic table on the hill to enjoy it, and the facilities were clean, easy access and those of us that did try the trails enjoyed the walk. A quick stop on the road turned into a gorgeous relaxing stop with a view.
