Anchorage By The Sea, Ogunquit Resort Collection

Rooms are a bit small but very clean and comfy.

I recently stayed at Anchorage by the Sea and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I’ve been to Ogunquit many times and was really looking forward to this stay, especially given the hotel’s reputation and pricing. However, from the moment we got to the room, there were serious issues. The cleanliness was completely unacceptable there was visible blood on the sheets, which was shocking and immediately made us uncomfortable. On top of that, we experienced plumbing problems, and overall the room did not meet even basic expectations. To their credit, there was an apology and we did eventually receive a full refund. The front desk staff was friendly, polite, and did apologize, which I appreciated despite the overall experience. However, what made the situation worse was how it was handled beyond that. We were never offered a different room despite the conditions, and we ended up leaving in the middle of the night because we didn’t feel comfortable staying. After the refund, communication completely stopped. There was no follow-up or effort to rebuild trust after such a serious issue. For a hotel at this price point, I expected much better service and attention to guest experience. It’s disappointing because Ogunquit is one of my favorite places to visit, and I was hoping this would become a go-to spot. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this hotel.
