Restaurant has gone substantially down hill. Great place otherwise.

We checked in on January 1st for three nights with our two small dogs. The resort rooms are very clean but the front desk workers need some further training. The pet policy states that, after three complaints, you can be asked to leave and no refunds. We had just finished breakfast when we received a call from Macy, on the front desk, saying our dogs were barking and, unknown to us, this was our second complaint. After arriving at the front desk and talking to Macy, who needs some classes in customer service, she simply stated that the cleaning staff had complained about my dogs barking and that was their policy. When I got to my room there were three cleaning carts all parked in front of our room door and housekeeping staff spread all throughout the hall and they had a young child with them. Anyone with any sense knows a dog will bark if you are outside of that room door and they hear noise and people. There were several dogs barking, in various rooms, because they heard the cleaning staff outside. (The same cleaning staff who complained about dog barking and they were the reason for the dogs to be upset and barking. ) Please inform them, if you stand outside a room door, a dog will bark. This place may be dog friendly but have no dog sense at all. We checked in at 4pm on the 1st and out by 11am, the next morning. Spent a little over 800 dollars for one night, with dinner, and was basically disgusted and left after that. Cleaning staff will complain about dog barking as they stand outside your door!! Macy did refund us our 1000 for the additional two nights and point us to the spa, where we had 500 dollars worth booked for the following day, so we could cancel all of that. She acted like she could have cared less. So, if you want cleaning staff, showing up with young children, standing around outside your door, while your dog hears all the commotion and barks, go here. There cleaning staff has no problem calling and complaining to the front desk about their own guests. Most ridiculous thing we have ever had happen and we travel a lot!!

Absolutely beautiful Resort, we stayed at the lodge for Christmas, it was great! The lodge is beautiful, rooms are just as described. Everything was neat, clean and in working condition except the safe and when we notified the front desk, they had maintenance there to fix it within the hour. Everyone was polite and easy to deal with. We didn't get a chance to dine at the restaurant simply because we were booked with other activities. We did go see it and the menu looked wonderful and they were very busy. We were just a few mins from Main St. Blowing Rock, it was picturesque with so many quaint little shops and restaurants to explore. Boone, NC was only about a 20 min drive and it was just as lovely as Blowing Rock, just bigger. The Ski Resort and Tweetsie Railroad were both less then 15 mins from the resort. We would love to go back when we can stay longer. Highly recommend it!
