in the last weekJoined as a member during a Black Friday deal. Outstanding facility and they make great use of the smaller space. The strength equipment are top notch, mostly Hoist and Hammer Strength and the community and staff are very friendly!

a week agoUsed a guest pass to run on the treadmill here, and had a terrible experience. Ventilation is very poor and the basement setting does not help with air circulation at all. Started to overheat around 40 minutes in and had a headache by the end of the run. Can't speak to the non-cardio equipment, but I won't ever come here to run indoors again.

a week agoBeen to many locations - unfortunately this is by far and away the worst one. - You have to bring your own lock. - The showers are dated and gross - The actual gym is in a basement that is basically a slightly better 24 hour fitness - Very small relative to other locations and very crowded. It’s really only operating because of it’s one of the few commercial gyms in San Mateo.

3 weeks agoIs equinox expensive? Yes. Are there better options in San Mateo? No. The staff here are generally super nice and helpful. Poor rating because their hours are restrictive (6pm closure on weekends) generally and I’ve now experienced being told the gym closes an hour earlier than the posted hours without any advance communication. I get to the gym and they have the gall to say “fair warning”. Unfortunately, no: being told on the day of when I arrive more than an hour before your official hours that I must leave in 15m is the antithesis of a fair warning.
