Moss Rock Preserve Sulphur Springs Rd Trailhead in Hoover stands out as a dynamic hiking area that caters to both casual walkers and avid explorers. This preserve features multiple trail options that range from moderate to challenging, with a variety of uphill and downhill sections dotted with rocks and roots. Navigating the trail requires some attention to the changing blaze markers, but the journey is richly rewarding.
Visitors commonly praise the trail’s natural beauty, including its waterfalls and the iconic Boulder Field about a mile and a half in. The preserve is family and pet-friendly, making it an excellent spot for curious adventurers to connect with nature. Although parking can be limited and nearby development encroaches slightly, the serene atmosphere and diverse terrain more than compensate. Enthusiasts looking for an engaging outdoor experience will find Moss Rock Preserve an excellent destination to enjoy intermediate trails and the region’s unique geological features.

2 years agoThe blazes are a little confusing. If you go right at the Blue marker #2 you'll switch to White blazes. These will continue until just after Turtle Rock and White marker #13, where you need to start following Blue blazes. I should mark it a 4 due to the Blue blazes, but it was a great hike. If you find yourself under the power lines, look at the map.

4 years agoGreat, intermediate trails!! Multiple trail options going uphill/downhill. Lots of rocks and roots to look out for. Definitely have to watch your footing but this is a perfect place for curious adventurers! The only thing is the small car parking at the trail entrance and that unfortunately it looks like house development is cutting into the preserve. There’s a busy road that’s next to some parts of the trail. Also, noticed the frog pond is dried out and some trees have been knocked down (intentionally) right next to the trails… Please preserve the preserve!!

5 years agoWe've hiked all the trails how're at Moss Rock. This trail leads to Boulder Field - about a mile and a half in. This is a really good trail. It's kid and pet friendly with lots of beautiful waterfalls. Highly recommend.

2 years agoBeautiful park all around. Lots of people taking advantage of the weather. Tried going to frog pond but was very wet so hiked a different trail. The small waterfall was beautiful!

9 months agoGreat hiking trails. Beautiful rock formations, waterfalls, and views. Worth the hike to see the falls and explore through the rocks. Trails are medium difficulty due to terrain and can be very slippery. Take a picture of the trail maps because they are not clearly marked. Blue trail is the best marked trail and has difficult terrain.
