Swayback Bridge Trail is a beloved hiking area located near Wetumpka, offering an extensive network of trails that cater to all adventure levels. This natural gem features a “choose your own adventure” style system, inviting visitors to explore various paths ranging from 2 to 8 miles.
Hikers and nature lovers appreciate the peaceful lakeshore walks and beautiful tree-lined routes. While the area is mostly quiet with birdlife enhancing the serene atmosphere, it also welcomes activities like fishing and trail biking. Some visitors note the trail signage could be improved for easier navigation, but the stunning scenery more than makes up for it. Swayback Bridge Trail is an excellent destination for those seeking a combination of beauty and outdoor activity.

4 years agoNice trail system; however, the markers are not always really clear and there are multiple crisscrossing trails with no markers, so it is easy to get lost. Still, a nice piece of land with pretty views even on an overcast day.

3 years agobeautiful network of trails that span from around 2 miles to 8! it’s stunning but confusing. i wish there were better signs marking the different trails throughout.

7 years agoThe wife and I love to walk the trails at Swayback! There's approximately 11 miles of trails broken up into 5 different paths of varying lengths. These trails are for running, walking, or mountain biking. We always try to go early in the morning before anyone is there. This way we usually get to see a bit of wildlife while strolling through the woods. Deer, rabbits, squirrels, possums, and sometimes an owl or two can be found while hiking the trails. One of the best things about Swayback is the trails are all through the woods so there's plenty of shade during those hot Alabama summer days to keep you a bit cooler.
