Went 11/ 19/23. Great 4.6 mile loop trail. Good free parking area. No bathrooms. Pets must be leashed. Sign says open 1 1/2 hr before sunrise. Closes 1 1/2 hr after sunset. We hiked counterclockwise along the river that then turns through the woods following a small creek for a while. Then, heads up Saddlerock Mountain for a great view and some boulder outcropping. Heading down following the white blazes all the way, we found a few large hardwood trees. One is said to be 16ft in circumference! This hike for us was moderate and took us about 4hrs and 35min. To complete. Definitely go with plenty of fluids, comfy good grip shoes!

Absolutely gorgeous Area. The terrain changes were absolutely awesome. And welcomed, from the walk along the lake, to inside the forest, to Creek walks to scaling up the mountain, then down to a waterfall before you close out the hike, depending on which way you go it has something for everyone and it's not a short height by any means. The array of beauty depending on what time you go during the year varies. From Louis Green Forest to wildflowers in the spring to wildlife abound. Will definitely be back to do some more hiking

Trail crews came through recently and they did great job. The entire trail is passable now. No climbing through downed trees. 🤙🏻 My dogs love it. When I pull into the parking lot they start acting like kids at Six Flags. It had to be a big job because it’s 5 or 6 miles worth of trails.

Stella & I have been on many hikes this year & this was one of our favorits. I loved the way the trail followed the little creek most of the way & the water was very clear. This gave Stella a chance to drink & cool off. The trails were very worn, wide, & easy to follow. They were well marked too. The view from the top was very beautiful. We can't wait to go back

John B. Scott Forever Wild starts here along with Cherokee Bluff Dam Railroad Trail. Both are wonderful trails with river or creek views respectively. Moderate trails around 4 miles each in a loop. Free admission and probably my favorite scenic views aside from the mountain views on Cheaha and Oak Mtn
