Gold Mint Trailhead nestled in Palmer is a cherished hiking area combining historic charm with natural splendor. Visitors can enjoy quiet car camping near a rushing stream, with campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and potable water. The trail leads adventurers through the clouds and past historic mining sites, offering a unique blend of outdoor exploration and cultural insight.
The hike itself is adventurous, with sections requiring waterproof boots due to occasional challenging terrain such as avalanche-blocked paths. This trail is favored by many for its breathtaking mountain vistas and the peaceful ambiance found in Hatcher’s Pass. Whether camping or hiking, Gold Mint Trailhead promises a memorable Alaskan wilderness experience.

7 months agoWe parked and car camped here. Campsites with a picnic table and a fire ring are available for $15. It was a nice, quiet location nestled in Hatcher's Pass, with the sound of a rushing stream behind the campsites. Typical outhouse facilities are provided, along with a potable water pump.
