a week agoCharming Bed-Stuy gem—Akwaaba Mansion feels like staying with family! Rooms were cozy and beautifully decorated (loved the Afrocentric touches and comfy beds), breakfast was hearty and homemade (fresh waffles, eggs, grits—delicious start to the day). Hosts were incredibly warm and helpful with local tips. Service felt personal and attentive. Location is great—quiet residential block, easy access to Brooklyn highlights and subway, though a bit farther from Manhattan action. Perfect for a relaxing, authentic Brooklyn stay—highly recommend!

a month agoI stayed at Akawaaba Mansion in the summer of 2024.This was my first time leaving my girls who were at the 12 and 8 years. I truly enjoyed my visit and was even planning to return the following year for my birthday. When returned home and raved about the hotel to my family,I received a call from one of manager named Randy. Randy(Africa America Women) said the house keeper(African American Women) said that a white terry cloth bathrobe was missing and she believed I took it. I was completely hurt and couldn't believe that I was being accused of stealing. After I huge up with Randy,I phoned back to speak to the woman that actually greeted me the day I arrived, but Randy pick up the phone and kept apologizing and didn't let me speak with the other staff member. This has been on my mind from time to time to post what happened to me,but I held back. I am not looking for money. I just to write what I experience and not be afraid to hold back. I am a woman of color and to have this happen to me by another woman of color sickens me. It wrong no matter what the color of the person is,but I never want to visit Awaaba Mansion again.
