While in Mansfield I contacted James Avery about adding gifted charms to my bracelet. My question was, could this be done while I wait or would it need to be dropped off? Carolyn said if I came in at 2pm she could get it done for me and she did! The service was great. Upon arrival there was no line and the wait time for my bracelet was minimal. I plan to return soon.

Earlier today on January 4 of 2026 I went into James Avery with the intention of having a charm put onto my charm bracelet. I’ve been to this location multiple times. This location specifically is the closest to my residence and I have never ever had an issue with this location until today. As I walked in, I immediately made eye contact with one of the workers (her name was Rileigh). The worker immediately turned her entire body away from me and proceeded to take steps in the opposite direction of where I was. Nobody welcomed me. Nobody asked how I was doing or what service I needed. Everybody ignored my existence, and I was the only customer in the store at the time. Words cannot describe how speechless and how my heart sank when not a single soul came to ask me if I needed anything or asked me for any type of assistance. After I realize that nobody was going to come up and help me, I walked to the same worker who walked away from me because the rest of the workers were behind the counter laughing insanely loud about whatever they were gossiping about. I said hello to Rileigh and asked her if I could get some help with getting a charm added to my bracelet. She had the worst face ever as if she didn’t wanna be there, more so she didn’t wanna help me. She takes me back to the cashier area and she brings out the little container where you put your bracelet to have the charm added. After she brings out the little container, she does not say nothing else to me during this process which took about five minutes. She barely even tried to look at me in her whole entire body language spoke louder than words. She had her hands behind her back, kept looking at the floor and didn’t say a single word. I put my charm bracelet in the container and I did struggle to figure out where to put the charm. I was hoping that she will help me, but she just watched me struggle to figure out where I want to put the charm. Once I found a place she pinned down t and she looked very agitated as if I took too long to figure out where I wanted to put the charm. I do want to say every other time I have came to this location. The workers always have a conversation with me always ask me questions to make sure I’m comfortable with the placement and satisfied with my service. I’ve never had one of the workers just lazy bring out this container. Take a step back and just look at the floor and remain on mute and not try to help a customer who is visibly struggling but I digress The same worker print out my receipt and throws it on the counter. I am right there within distance to where she could’ve put my receipt in my hand easily. She literally threw it on the counter and it just floated there and I even said “ohh” and vocalize how surprised I was that she felt comfortable to do that right in front of my face. But regardless, I try to ignore it. I also asked her if I could get a ring sizer for my pinky finger because I was also thinking about purchasing another ring. She walks back to get the ring sizer with an attitude, and then she slams the ring size tool on my finger. I’m showing distress and discomfort and everything and the only thing she has to say was “this is a 7 1/2 this should fit”. I walked out and just said thank you. Like I said earlier, I have been to the same James Avery location a plethora of times over the years. I have never had an issue ever with James Avery at any location. With what happened today I do feel like this was a biased racist attack. I’m a black woman who decided to go to James Avery on their off day from work. My attire was appropriate. I had on gray sweatpants, white crocs with charms, and a jacket. Nothing about my luck was inappropriate or deemed any type of excuse for the treatment that I received today. James Avery I would definitely love to hear from you in the future regarding the situation and my experience today. Thank you !
