Service and atmosphere was GREAT! Our waitress was amazing and checked up on us numerous times and was very polite. We went earlier in the morning so it was mostly older customers and the occasional family. The food is a completely different story. If I could rate 0 stars on the food, I would. First, there was hair baked into my waffles. And numerous pieces of hair on top. The waffles were extremely sweet and more crust on the outside than batter inside. The chicken was your average chicken tender chicken. The eggs. The eggs are wow- and not a good wow. My fiancé and I both ordered over easy eggs so naturally they will still be runny. These eggs were maybe cooked on the skillet for 1 minute TOTAL. More than half of my eggs were uncooked egg whites and tasteless. I barely ate my meal. My fiancé had the biscuits and gravy and said “it was fine. Very tasteless. I’d rather get McDonald’s breakfast than eat here again.” HE GOT FOOD POISONING. I don't know if it was from the eggs or the biscuits and gravy. He did eat his whole meal as he’s not picky like me but did not enjoy his meal. I went to Saint Mary’s so I was familiar with PEGGS and had heard amazing reviews so I am quite disappointed with our experience. We will not be coming back.
One week difference and completely different experiences. A week ago, I had such a great experience that I wanted to go back! Though, unfortunately this past Saturday.. we felt very unwelcome by our waitress.. completely ruining the experience for my friend's first time there and shocking me. This past Saturday we were sat at a dirty table.. then left there for 10 minutes, without even water. I looked around and saw water carafe with cups on every table, and every new group being say down able to at least enjoy a cup of water while waiting (much shorter time than us). I had to stop another waitress and ask for the water, at least, at let her know NO ONE has said anything to us the last 10 minutes. (Still.. sitting at a dirty table.. nothing). Our waitress finally came out, but I didn't know she was ours because she completely avoided eye contact and helped all surrounding tables first.. then went to go BACK to the back, but thankfully decided against it and came up to us with a very quick, bleak "so I assume you're ready to order?" Another waitress dropped off our food, and the next time we saw ours.. she gave us our drinks in to-go cups. (Well after many others got theirs who ordered after us). Then she disappeared again until giving us the check. Additionally, I asked for my hash browns to be extra crispy (a request they easily did last time I was there).. and she rudely said "I won't promise" with an attitude. Then they came out as SOFT as possible with literally no crispy at all. Since we didn't see her again until our check (minus the dropping off to- go cups and running away).. I couldn't say anything about the quality to her. I'm literally APPALLED at this. I should have said something then.. but my friend wanted to just leave because he felt so uncomfortable at the whole situation. This whole situation brought me down from 5 to 3 star, but still a 3 at least thanks to the amazing waitress I had last time!
Best chicken and waffles I've ever had.
Great food!
