a month agoA little gem in the heart of SF! I absolutely loved everything about my experience. As a seasonal traveler, I always book a sauna visit in cities I go to. Growing up in Europe (where spas are fully nude as it is so gross to bathe and sweat in synthetic bathing suits), I am glad we can still find places like this in the US. I love Swedish saunas, French hydrotherapy spas, Germany mixed genders spas, Italians bathing houses, Turkish Hammams, Korean Crystal saunas... I visited Japan and this place is even better than an onsen for me because of the low light and the various saunas/pools there. The cold plunge is amazing, right in the center of the room, and there are wet and dry saunas, a jacuzzi, relaxing lounge chairs and towels and lockers available for everyone. I soaked for 2h in the quiet atmosphere (thank you for the absolutely no phone and silence!!) before getting a facial by Devin. I HIGHLY recommend the experience. Devin, a super professional and fun esthetician with 20 years of experience, was able to quickly deliver a diagnosis on my skin and assess its needs. He used Naturopathica products (including the Plant Stem Cell Booster Serum) and I ended up purchasing some once I was back. This was truly an amazing experience! I can't wait to go back! It is certainly worth the splurge. Make sure to reserve and treat yourself to a full experience at Kabuki Springs and Spa, it's magical. Thank you so much! Doe

a month agofirst time visitor, cold plunge was out of order, we did receive a $10 discount. facility was clean, but small and looking worn around the edges. locker room setup was awful - sheets are setup to create a men's area and a women's area, but everything is so cramped you wind up stepping on the toes of people coming in and going out. awkward! not a relaxing way to start your spa.

a month agoTo understand why I am giving this place one star you need to understand how much this place has gone downhill. It used to be walk-in $30 for essentially no time limit (might have been 4 hrs), the men’s side was for the men *every day* and the women’s side was for the women. During COVID, they nearly doubled the price, completely removed the walk-ins, reduced the time you get to a measly 2.5 hours, and most bizarrely, they now have gender specific days for both sexed sides of the bathhouse. No more women’s or men’s specific side. The experience has completely transformed to something that is much more like a bog standard American Spa than anything remotely Japanese. So not only can you not drop in after a hard day and get to soak for as long as you need for a reasonable price in a safe single-sex environment… you can’t even make an appointment to spend a couple hours here on all but 3 days of the week (if you’re female). And to be clear, I would forgive the price increase if this other stuff didn’t go out the window as well. The fact is that businesses should face consequences for making such anti-customer policies such as these. And I can guarantee they will to the extent that they have now lost my business.

a month agoQuite disappointing for the price to say the least. Service is great but some of the actual amenities are lacking. The single sauna they had wasn’t hot, the steam room wasn’t steamy enough (I should not be able to see through the room for long), and there was only a single jacuzzi. I understand that this is SF, but for a $50 experience I had higher expectations. It also seems like the people who go (or maybe I was just unlikely with the cohort of people) aren’t familiar with sauna etiquette. When I went, there was a man chomping on snacks inside the sauna!? I came to relax, not to listen to your little orchestra.
