This is my go to “happy place” every summer for the past several years. I have been a member for a few years now too. This pool has all the beauty of a natural lake but it’s cleaner because of the fresh mountain steam running through it. You see little critters like tadpoles salamanders and water snakes occasionally, especially in shallow areas, but it’s part of being part of nature.:) This pool is open to anyone, and it’s tucked away in the woods in Ringwood—a world away from NYC and it’s sometimes stressful environs. Even the drive to the pool already relaxes me—it’s very scenic and beautiful. There are people from all over, and the members and trustees are a real community. I can’t recommend this place enough as a regular summer watering hole.:) there’s also a concession stand with lunch and snack items as well as coffee seltzer ice cream etc. There are plenty of shaded tables to sit at and lounge chairs around the pool. The advantage of being a member are that there is a member only parking lot, members can use the picnic tables for free as part of their membership, (need to reserve in advance though) and friends of members who come along get a discounted admission rate. But you don’t need to be a member or a Ringwood resident to enjoy this beautiful natural sanctuary in the woods.:)
It's a charming place; everyone, from the staff to the volunteers, is very friendly. It's recommended for families and also for people who want to spend a day in the mountains enjoying nature. The natural pool is fed by a river and made of pure natural stone, which is excellent because the stone keeps the water clean and fresh. Although it was a little chilly, on a sunny day, the swim was invigorating and restorative. You can even have a barbecue. I highly recommend it, and don't forget to take your trash with you and follow the rules to preserve the site. A hidden gift of nature in New Jersey.
Lovely day trip! The pool is clean and the staff were extremely helpful, welcoming, and caring. Bathrooms and changing rooms were also spotless. Plenty of chairs on a weekday afternoon. Keep in mind that there’s no cell service but the pool does after free WiFi. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the members were extremely rude to us day use folks. I could understand if I was breaking the rules, being loud or trashing the place….but my friend and I were extremely respectful and polite. We’re in our late 30’s, but we’re stared at like we were a couple a misfit teenagers. We followed all the rules and were still treated with nasty looks, rude comments, and unwarranted attitude by the members. I don’t deem this acceptable behavior so it should be a warning for all who are considering this for a day trip.
Beware they only post sold out on stories and even though day passer people leave the won't let you in multiple people in Parking lot stated today was less crowded than usual if 2 people leave for day why can't two more come in it's simple math so sad !
