Hope Point Trail in Hope is renowned for its spectacular vistas over Turnagain Arm, Cook Inlet, and the town of Hope itself. This vigorous hike begins with forested switchbacks and climbs steadily above the tree line to a rewarding summit experience. Hikers enjoy the diverse ecosystems encountered along the way, from lush wildflower displays to open alpine terrain.
Though steep, the trail’s design with switchbacks makes the elevation gain manageable for determined hikers. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to immerse themselves in Alaska’s natural beauty while enjoying a challenging but accessible climb. Early arrival is recommended for parking and to avoid the midday sun, with plenty of water and snacks advised to enhance your outdoor adventure.

5 months agoThis hike affords spectacular views out over Turnagain Arm, Cook Inlet, Anchorage, and of course Hope! It starts with forested switch backs before climbing above the tree line and continuing up, getting ever steeper, before reaching the summit. It took almost exactly five hours for me to complete the hike. Come early to find easy parking and try to avoid the beating mid-day sun. As always bring plenty of water, bear spray, and snacks!

3 years agoSteep... but switchbacks keep the 3000'+ elevation gain manageable on this out and back trail. Clear skies cooperated and views are stunning. Vast changes in ecosystems as you gain elevation are awesome to see. Several grouse but otherwise not much wildlife. @apogeeadventure

1 year agoA spectacular trail! Amazing views of Hope and Turnagain Arm. One of best wildflower displays I have seen. Bugs were the worst at the top of the mountain.

3 years agoDifficult hike, but we’ll worth the effort if weather is decent. Some of the best views in the state of Turnagain Arm.
