4 months agoThis was an unexpectedly cool stop! We took some pictures of ourselves because we are from Iowa and we don't get mountain views like this. It was interesting to read the history behind the area. I am so glad we stopped here!

4 months agoAbsolutely gorgeous scenery, even the view from the parking lot is stunning. Lots of wildflowers by the trail when we went (early August). The trail is a 0.7 mile loop which takes you by the old cabin and mineshaft. There’s some very informative placards that you can read along the trail about the history of the area as well as the flora and fauna. The trail itself is pretty easy— I don’t do much hiking but I didn’t find it to be particularly difficult. The elevation gains were the only thing that gave me pause but I’ve got asthma so that’s very normal. Highly recommend for a quick hike to see some great scenery and learn a thing or two.
