in the last weekReally enjoyed this hike. As others have mentioned, the trail can be challenging and demanding. The difficulty really comes from the scrambling aspect of the hike, hard to build any kind of rhythm or pace, as you’re having to navigate over and around larger rocks for a significant portion of the hike. But overall, it is very doable if you have the time and proper hydration. Views are great, trail is pretty well maintained, and the other hikers were all great and respectful. I arrived at the trail head at around 4:30 AM, gate was fortunately already open. I was able to make it up and back to the car within 2 hours, spending around 15 minutes at the top.

in the last weekOne of my favorite hikes/climbs in Phoenix. Lower 1/3 is relatively easy. Top 2/3 is difficult but a good workout. Some bouldering/scrambling in the top 2/3. If that is not your thing then this is a trail you should avoid. The view at the top and at certain points along the way is beautiful. Parking is difficult at peak hours, but not off-peak. Decent restroom facilities at the trailhead.
