Mossy Bluff National Nature Trail

Had a great time. Beautiful even if some people where rude

I loved this trail and think it was awesome, so I won't remove any stars. But.....my experience was pretty scary and dangerous. This is NOT a child friendly trail unless your child is at least 6, maybe 8 years old. If your kid is actually able to walk long distances with minimal help getting across ricks and stuff, then this is the perfect trail for your family. If you have kids 5 and under who may or may not be able to walk long distances without getting worn out, and will want to sit in a stroller, or are so little they still need a stroller to sit in like my 18 month old did, this is NOT the trail for you. Maybe if you have a very small baby who can fit ina. Bay carrier, if you are fit enough to carry your nany the whole way down the baby trail, then it would be suitable. But needless to say......we are NEVER doing that again. Our stroller didnt always fit on the trail in some of the narrow areas towards the end and had to be carried, wirh both of the kids still in it. Despite having genuine off road wheels, it still had a hard time maneuvering over rocks and branches and stuff because of course an wheel will get stuck if it runs into soemthing lime that. So my husband and I had to team up and carry the stroller over larger rocks and what not, which is heavy with two kods in it, and we had to do it every few feet, just about. And there was a harrowing experience towards the end when the stroller did not fit on the trail and I had to hoist both kids on my hips while walking across the ledge of a steep hill, and my husband had to carry the diaper bag and folded up stroller on his back while crossing that same ledge. I told him if he starts to topple over to just let go of the stroller because his life is more important than a stroller (and it was a LONG way down at that particular spot). We made ot to the stairs and had to then ascend 90+ stairs with 2 toddlers and a stroller. When we made it to the top fo the stairs, the view at the top was amazing, but......then we had walk all the way back to the visitor center, a couple more miles away from where we were because our car was parked there. If it had just been us 2 adults, it would not have been an issue. But, we were already starting to feel a bit sore, because of essentially lifting weights while hiking at the same time for 2 and a half plus hours. It was slow going with all we were towing with us. When we finally made it back to the car, we were all exhausted, and ready to go home. My husnand told me, "next time you wanna go on a hike like this, we are getting a baby sitter!" And I couldn't agree more. Do this hike WITHOUT kids under the age of 8! Also, there are NO restrooms at any point on the trail, only at the visitor center, which was closed the day we went on our hike. So yes, the views ar beautiful, the trail is maybe easy for an in shaoe person, moderate for those who dont go to the gym.....but it will be a death by exhaustion challenge for those who choose to brave the trail with young kids and a stroller. Parents of littles beware! And maybe just.....hire a babysitter or go when the kids are at daycare or school if possible. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Oh well. At least we got some pictures in, before the trail got too rough. We had a good time for abiut the first hour and a half.
