4 years agoAbsolutely breathtaking! Glaciers, fishing, local flavor and seafood in the very small fishing port of Whittier, Alaska, on Prince William Sound. Worth a visit if only to spend 8 minutes traveling there through one of the longest tunnels in North America!

3 years agoVery muddy, but easy to follow trail to a nice waterfall and then a cove on the sound. Many berries to be found in early August.

2 years agoSeptember 2nd- Well, we made it about 15 minutes in and gave up. We wore our rubber shoes and boots, but they just weren’t sufficiently tall to stand up to the MUD! If you want an obstacle course hiking experience, wear tall rubber boots and bring some spiked hiking poles. If we we had done that, I think we would have kept going. It was kind of fun trying to navigate all that mud. Imagine slippery, skinny, somewhat broken log bridges spanning mud bogs. One of our party lost his footing and you can see the results!

4 years agoTrue hidden gem. If you are in the Whittier area, please take few minutes to stop by this spot. It’s drivable and can be hiked too. Breathtaking views of the Prince William Sound.
