a month agoIn case youre wondering, just north of here at the next trail entrance is the only 3 parking spaces you dont need a national park pass for. So if youre a random local like me who is absolutely not paying the federal goverment money for access to what was previously open to me by default for simply living around here, those are the 3 parking spaces you want to be at. 90% of the time just ride a bike here but sometimes i dont want to ride through 6ish miles of unmaintained calumet trail so i just drive out here to wander around beverly shores. On the actual park? Everything around here is fantastic, no complaints, and my gripes are not over the DNR and park service around here, theyre doing a fantastic job and their work is greatly appreciated. But id rather pay them directly than give the federal government a penny for access to my own local mud and sand. You know, like we used to.
