weeks agoMargo is the REAL DEAL! I sought out Margo because I heard she specializes in vocal tension and the skill of physically getting out of our own way when singing. I was in a highly demanding role at the time and found that I held lots of tension in my jaw, neck, and back, not only when singing, but all the time. (Yikes!) Working with Margo for only two sessions gave me the awareness of my habitual tension and how to get myself into a more relaxed state before performing. Highly recommend!

months agoI started following Margo on Instagram as an admirer of her performing work. I have always struggled with vocal tension and tightness. I wrote a musical that I want to perform in, so I began to look for a voice teacher, hoping I could address some of my physical issues. I met with Margo for a consultation after she posted about teaching on her Instagram. I remember she said, "This work (vocal dearmoring) is great for releasing neck tension and working on new musical theater." Wow! Sign me up! And my goodness, I have had the BEST experience working with Margo. Pain and tightness that has plagued me for YEARS dissipates during and after a lesson. I don't think I realized that even speaking was causing me pain - until the pain stopped. I am incredibly grateful, and I could not recommend Margo more highly!!

months agoMargo is the absolute best! I’ve developed a lot of mental blocks when it comes to singing since starting booking professional gigs, and Margo’s methods really worked for me! She really helped me get back into my body and truly ground myself. A lot of what she talks about, especially with the breath, really combats the rigid strain that we tend to put on ourselves in a professional setting. I highly, highly recommend working with Margo!

months agoI had recently joined a choir after years of inactivity, and I sought to brush off the dust and explore my voice as an adult. I found Margo through a friend who spoke highly of her, and right from the start, I felt the warmth, ease, and comfort of someone who embodied singing as breathing. The hands-on technique of checking in with the jaw and the body made me more aware of not only the mechanics of singing, but how much I tension I had been holding onto. Often, we're taught to chase an outcome, a specific sound, but Margo encourages building off of what feels natural, first with the breath and body. I've really enjoyed our lessons together and highly recommend reaching out to her.

months agoEarlier this year, I sought vocal training to improve my presentation skills and presence at work. A simple Google search led me to Margo, whose location was initially listed in Hoboken close to where I live, but her in-person studio is actually in Times Square. She also offers virtual lessons. Margo is so fun to work with! As someone who has never trained my voice, I found her a very patient and intuitive instructor. Her techniques focus on fundamentals: breathing exercises, vocalization warm-ups, reading passages out loud, and self-massages to relax any muscle involved in creating sound. I felt like my time with Margo (12 lessons, total) opened up a new dimension of my voice that I didn't know existed. I've improved my speaking and elocution in a noticeable way and have received compliments from colleagues at work. I also (unexpectedly) developed a rudimentary singing voice through our practice, which I never would have thought possible, as I was convinced my whole life that I wasn't capable of singing. Lastly, Margo is great with scheduling--many in-person and virtual options, which was perfect for me given my erratic work schedule. I plan to continue working with Margo in the future and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to unlock a better voice, whether for presentations, everyday life, performing, or singing!
