Young Blood offers a one-of-a-kind evening in San Diego with its inventive approach to the cocktail bar scene. Guests appreciate the unique three-course cocktail menu that feels both creative and personalized. Instead of a standard list, expert bartenders engage with patrons to craft drinks perfectly suited to individual tastes, making each visit fresh and exciting. The cocktails themselves are delicious, complemented by a beautifully designed interior that adds to the ambiance.
Visitors often highlight the thoughtful service and the inclusion of palate cleansers between cocktail rounds, elevating the tasting experience. While the focus is on drinks, many wish for small snack options to accompany the innovative cocktail flights. Known for requiring reservations due to its popularity, this spot is a must-visit for those seeking a memorable cocktail experience in the heart of San Diego.

2 weeks agoThe switch to a fixed menu is a huge drop off in why we came. The old experience of having a personal bartender memorize and specialize all three drinks into a personalized and tailored experience was the reason to come. I don’t know what this is anymore. Trying to invent a drink for myself to join the first third of the menu to the last third of the menu is not what I want.

3 weeks agoFarewell to the essence of YB. Whereas prior they did 3 bespoke drinks for 65 they know increased to 85 for 2 menu drinks and 1 custom drink, which there seemed less interest in helping you create. Additionally, our mixologist came off extremely impatient, essentially rude, especially when we had questions. There are better quality/priced speakeasies which to consider that do not condescend. Would avoid.

2 months agoAtmosphere: 9/10 Located in Downtown San Diego, hidden inside the restaurant Neighborhood. Speakeasy-style setup with a vintage, classic, refined vibe. Intimate space with a small number of bar seats and tables. Backbar is nicely done. Music volume is pleasant and conversation-friendly. Surroundings outside aren’t great, but once inside, the concept is clear and cohesive. Drinks: 8.5/10 Recommendation: Follow the menu instruction High-quality menu with a unique three-course cocktail format. Drink selection isn’t large, but the second course being dealer’s choice adds interest. Flavor construction is strong overall. Coasters are provided and well-designed. Glassware is above average. Garnish and presentation, including ice work, are consistently nice. Service: 6/10 Water served on arrival. Team is friendly, but professionalism could be better. With only two bartenders, service feels overwhelmed at times—empty water glasses weren’t refilled without asking. Reservations recommended. Prices are definitely above average, though the experience itself justifies it. Points deducted for the forced three-course cocktail menu plus additional shots in between. The fixed pacing locks you in for 90+ minutes, and if you don’t eat beforehand, it can get borderline unpleasant toward the end. The lack of freedom of choice hurts the overall service experience.
