Located in Healy, AK, the Mount Healy Overlook Trailhead is a favorite hiking area for those looking to combine moderate physical challenge with breathtaking scenery. Boasting a 4.8-star rating from 81 reviews, this trail offers an uphill climb that is easier ascending than descending, with the payoff being incredible views of Denali and the surrounding wilderness. Hikers recommend sturdy boots and layered clothing due to changing weather conditions, especially the wind at higher elevations. The trail is well-loved for its solitude compared to busier paths, and the summit provides memorable encounters with local wildlife. Whether you take the shorter overlook route or continue to the summit, the experience is well worth the effort for visitors craving an authentic Alaskan hiking adventure.

4 months agoThe trail is a bit much for my 42 year old knees, but the punishment was worth the views. Going up is easier than coming down. There were 2 midget snowmen to greet me when I arrived at the top. I wore pants and a hoodie in late October, which was warm enough for me, just make sure you have some good hiking shoes/boots. A bit colder on top obviously, but that because of the wind. Don’t give up 1/2 way through either, the views are amazing. Also, try the lobster bisque!

4 months agoWe loved hiking this trail. We started at the visitors center and the climb isn't too steep but it's all uphill. There isn't a lot of shade and it can get really windy at the top. Took us about 2 hours to get up and 1.5 hours to get down. Would definitely recommend it if in the area!
