The Annex Kitchen

Went for our 5 year anniversary and it was pretty decent. Maybe not quite as good as it was built up to be but maybe I ordered the wrong item on the menu Tagliolini- 7/10 (spicy tomato sauce with crab and shrimp) Sauce had decent flavor but nothing remarkable. Good fresh pasta, but didn't like the addition of the arugula, but that's easy to remove. Seafood has good flavor and texture Mezze Rigatoni- 9/10 (sausage ragu) very good all around dish. Good balance of texture and flavor of meat and sauce Truffle fries-9/10 Fries were shoestring cut and were cooked perfectly. Shredded parmesean cheese goes great on them but the garlic aioli had little to no flavor. Service-10/10 outstanding, every employee is trained to monitor tables as they travel through the dining room. Everyone was polite and responsive. Yes it was very loud in there and hard to have a conversation but it's a small restaurant that is constantly busy so there's not much you can do about that. Another bonus was a complementary almond merengue dessert for our anniversary!

Excellent food! We are from OC and stopping here for the night. We weee very pleasantly surprised. It’s a busy place but they were able to seat us. Food tasted fantastic made with care and authentic. Definitely recommend. The pizza was so good!

The service was exceptional. Everyone from the hostess to Chris, our server, was great. The food and drinks were top shelf. The braised short rib was melt in your mouth. The ribeye was seasoned and cooked to perfection.
