in the last weekHazelwood has now delivered two excellent meals for us, and this visit may have been even better than the first. On our previous visit, the French Onion Soup arrived with a bubbling cheese cap over a rich, savory broth, followed by tender rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The Blueberry Ginger Refresher was bright, crisp, and a great non-alcoholic option. This time, the kitchen kept the momentum going. The steak was one of the highlights, and the kitchen accommodated a special request for a blue cheese crust. It added a rich, tangy layer and extra texture without overpowering the beef — exactly the kind of customization that can turn a good entrée into a memorable one. The salmon burger was another strong plate, served with a generous portion of crispy tots. The sandwich was substantial without feeling overloaded, and the tots had the kind of golden exterior that makes it difficult to leave any behind. Our daughter went with the kids rotisserie chicken and absolutely loved it. The chicken portion was generous, and the fresh fruit cup alongside it was a welcome change from the usual heavy kids-meal sides. Grapes, strawberries, and pineapple made the plate feel balanced while still being something she genuinely enjoyed. The mocktails were colorful, refreshing, and beautifully presented. They felt thoughtfully made rather than like an afterthought for anyone skipping alcohol. Then came dessert. The banana cream pie was the clear standout for me — rich, creamy, beautifully composed, and loaded with contrasting textures. The custard, whipped cream, caramelized banana, chocolate and caramel sauces, and nutty graham-style crust came together into one seriously indulgent dessert. The key lime pie was also excellent, but in a completely different direction. It leaned noticeably tart, which I really appreciated, with enough sweetness and creaminess to keep everything balanced. One warning: these desserts are enormous. The menu says they are big enough to share, and that is not marketing optimism. They are legitimately shareable portions. Service throughout the visit was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, accommodating with special requests, and polished without ever feeling intrusive. That level of service, combined with consistently well-executed food, is what turns a good restaurant into one you actually look forward to revisiting. Two visits, two excellent experiences. Hazelwood has officially moved beyond “worth trying” and into “where are we eating next time?” territory.
