I had femtosecond LASIK surgery here 23 years ago. The surgery itself went relatively smoothly, but the post-operative experience and the financial process left me extremely disappointed. At the time, I used a so-called "two-year interest-free loan" recommended by the hospital. A crucial point is that throughout the entire process, no staff member explicitly informed me that I needed to "set my own monthly repayment amount" in my loan account; otherwise, the system would only deduct the minimum payment. It was my first time using an interest-free loan, and trusting this sizable ophthalmology institution, I assumed the process was safe and transparent, so I didn't check my account frequently. The result: for two years, I consistently made monthly payments, but because I only paid the minimum each month, the principal barely decreased after two years; upon maturity, I was charged a lump sum of over $3300 in retroactive interest. Almost all of my previous monthly payments turned into interest. What shocked me even more was that when I called to discuss the issue, the staff admitted that "other clients had encountered similar problems before." Since this had already happened, why didn't the hospital clearly and repeatedly remind subsequent patients of this in the procedures? Why allow the same thing to happen again and again? Even more regrettably, a friend of mine also had surgery here and used the same loan method, and has been paying interest for three and a half years. If I hadn't reminded him, he would still think this was "normal repayment." The hospital said they would "internally communicate with the bank again," but more than a month has passed without any proactive response. Additionally: It's been over two years since my surgery, and I still experience slight fogging almost daily. Multiple checkups have shown "normal." Whether this is due to individual differences or a side effect is uncertain, but after the above communication, I am truly disappointed with the hospital's overall sense of responsibility and its emphasis on patient experience. I sincerely advise anyone considering eye surgery here: • Don't just listen to the words "interest-free loan." • Always log into your loan account yourself to confirm the monthly repayment amount and principal changes. • Medical surgery is not only a technical matter, but also a matter of trust; please be extremely cautious.
