a week agoI saw more elk on my most recent visit than ever before! The males had velvety antlers, and I think we even spotted a baby. We did not see any bison which was not typical. The racoons, however, were out in full force. PSA: Probably not a good idea to pet a raccoon like so many people in cars in front of us were trying to do. General info: Lone Elk Park is free of charge, but the park service welcomes an online donation. You mostly stay in your car and drive through, but there are picnic areas and restrooms you can get out of your vehicle for. Typically, I never see many elk, but always see bison at the end just before the exit. You can drive through as many times as you like.
