a month agoExcellent paved trail! Plenty of shade from plenty of trees! Clocked in just under 7 miles for the entire trail out and back! There will be bugs during summertime, so just come prepared if you’re walking. There’s a nice pond with huge swans hanging out, that was a nice view along the trail. They also have a dirt bike course and there was some fun action taking place when I went in late June! The only thing that’s annoying is that they do NOT have the signs posted at the start of the southern trailhead to tell you what side of the trail to walk/ride/pass on. It’s completely backwards from normal traffic when driving, which I think is just plain stupid. Walk on the left, ride on the right. It couldn’t be dummer than that, but it’s even worse that they don’t post this sign until halfway through the trail! They really should put this at the START of EVERY trailhead, but of course I just had to pick the ONE trailhead that didn’t have any of those instructions. I kept wondering why people were walking completely opposite of normal traffic flow patterns…but hey, Rhode Island just has to be different from the rest! Other than that very enjoyable, but no restrooms because no activities were taking place at the northern baseball fields. The southern softball fields had a lot of action when I got back, so I must have lucked out that I got to the trail probably around 3 or 4pm before it completely filled from the kids softball games on a Thursday afternoon! Parking lot was empty when I arrived, but jam packed when I got back!

2 months agoGreat path, wide in most areas, a little scenic as well, especially in the south end. About 6.5-7 miles out and back. Water fountain around the mid point in Slater Park is a great add, convenient for refilling water bottles.
