in the last weekOne of central Florida's finest hiking trails. The section that follows the St. John's River is the most scenic. If you're only hiking part of the trail, I recommend you go to the right entering the loop since that way is closer to the river. Plenty of shade makes this a much more comfortable hike during hot sunny days.

in the last weekSaw so much wildlife! We were truly amazed! The hike was mild to moderate but 7 miles went quite easily , and we were over prepared with our full day packs. Didn’t realize there were primitive camp sites on property, so that’s a bonus for any local scout troops. We arrived around 10 am to an almost full parking lot, though we didn’t see that many people on trail. Highly recommend following the blue arrows and going right at the fork where the trail splits. We saw four owls including an owlet, we saw four or five gators, we saw a beautiful rat snake, a family of hogs, a turtle, and many water birds. We will definitely be back!

in the last weekBlack Bear Wilderness Area is easily one of the best trails in Central Florida. If you’re looking for a more rugged, natural hiking experience, this is it. The terrain is uneven with plenty of exposed roots, which makes it a great workout and keeps the hike engaging from start to finish. It’s not a casual stroll—be prepared for a bit of a challenge—but that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. I’ve visited at least five times, including trips with my kids, and it’s been a great experience every time. The full 7.1-mile loop is no joke—I’ve completed it twice, and it’s definitely something you feel accomplished after finishing. If you enjoy real hiking (not just paved paths), this trail is absolutely worth checking out. Just bring water, wear proper shoes, and be ready for a solid adventure. Located near Sanford, this is one of the top hiking spots in the area for anyone looking for a true wilderness trail.

in the last weekIt was an amazing trail! So beautiful! We came here right at sunrise, because we knew it was going to get very hot later in the day, and I am a mosquito magnet. It was absolutely perfect! Cooler weather, no bugs, great nature! It takes about 3 hours if you're taking a nice pace looking around and enjoying life!
