in the last weekWhat a gem in Philly! Beautiful outdoor seating area under hanging trees, tons of greenery and lanterns, and interior had a great warm and incredibly inviting, cozy, and well-appointed interior. As packed as the restaurant became, what impressed us was our ability to hold a conversation, especially since one in our party was hard of hearing. Our main server for the evening was Matthew L. He was utterly amazing (as was the rest of the staff). They were all incredibly attentive, happy to be of service, and worked like a great ensemble cast. Matthew did soooo many little things that made such a HUGE impression that there is no way to write them all down in this review. The professionalism and service he gave us was not stuffy nor pretentious, but genuine and delightful. He was thoughtful and gracious throughout our visit; he truly added to our entire dinner experience! The food? AMAZING. We started with the fig and chèvre (on the seasonal appetizer list) and the hand-rolled ricotta gnudi. Entrees at the table were: the Roasted Chicken with Gnocchi, Seared Sea Scallops & Fresh Gulf Shrimp, and Handmade Ricotta Ravioli. Sides were: Sticky Glazed Broccoli & Cabbage and the Thai Cucumber Salad. Dessert was a shared Warm Chocolate Pudding Cake (because we were beyond stuffed at that point). Kudos to the chefs, because from start to finish, EVERYTHING was so well-executed, beautifully prepared, and so flavorful. This restaurant is a must-visit when in Philadelphia. You will NOT be disappointed.

in the last weekTalula’s Garden was one of the best meals of our trip. The food is fresh and genuinely delicious — you can taste the quality of the ingredients in every dish. The service is outstanding. The staff was attentive without hovering, and made us feel taken care of from start to finish. The setting is beautiful too. The garden courtyard with the string lights makes it feel like a hidden retreat, even though you’re right on Washington Square in the middle of the city. We came to Philadelphia for our 25th anniversary and this was a highlight. Highly recommended.
